We were thrilled when Chris, the author of Dancing in the Rain, published by Bennison Books, received the following heartfelt message from reader Jackie Campbell. With Jackie’s permission, we’ve reproduced her email below. Thank you, Jackie. It’s wonderful to get feedback like this!

Hello Chris,

I don’t know whether you remember me – I’m Jackie Campbell from Gloucestershire. I entered the rooms of AA in 2002 and was diagnosed with MS in 2012.

My journey is therefore similar to yours and I have purchased your book Dancing in the Rain.

All I say is …”it’s bloody fantastic!!”

I could relate to so many of your poems in so many ways. I have been dipping into your website now and again … but now it’s on my favourites list. What I find about your work is the simplicity and clear and understanding meanings which touch deep down into my heart.

I really, really can smell the flowers, laughter, frustration and of course the refreshing scent of rain.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU so much for this book.

I purchased it as a hard copy. I now read on Kindle because I cannot hold a novel for a time, but your copy is an ideal size.

Also, I love the artwork on the cover – especially the smile on her face as she touches the rain.

Love and blessings to you and good luck with future ventures.

  1. Thanks so much Deborah, for sharing this. I will send the link to Jackie. She has told me she will be buying a few copies for xmas for her friends at the local MS centre. Xx

  2. What a brilliant article! I truly mean what I said about the book. I’ve been telling lots of my friends about it at my local MS centre and several people have asked to have a look at it. One of the treatments I have for my MS is oxygen therapy which entails going into a decompression chamber and breathing in oxygen. We cannot take in our Kindles incase they get damaged …. so I am going to donate a couple of Chris’s books so other people can savour her poems whilst undergoing this treatment.
MS is a horrid disease – but reading these poems somehow makes me feel ‘ like the old Jackie’ again.
It has been a privilege to do this review and I look forward to reading more of Chris’s work 🙂

  3. Lovely to see you here, Jackie. Such a wonderful idea to donate Chris’s book for patients whose treatment entails using a decompression chamber. This is such a lovely comment that I am going to share it on Facebook. Hope that’s OK. 🙂
